The situation

This Adelaide construction business has been building commercial and civil projects across South Australia for over two decades. They run a lean core crew and fill fluctuating demand with labour hire — bringing in extra labourers, concreters, formworkers, and admin support as the project load requires.

When they first called EIR in 2003, they were dealing with the same problem most builders face: inconsistent worker quality, providers who oversold their pools, and too many mornings where someone did not turn up and the site manager found out at 6am. They needed a provider who would treat their jobs like their own reputation was on the line.

The problem

Labour hire relationships often look fine on paper and fall apart in practice. A worker arrives without the right tickets. Someone does not show and the provider is uncontactable until business hours. A replacement turns up who has clearly never been near formwork. Over time, the site manager starts to dread the days they have to rely on labour hire rather than their core crew.

The business had been through several providers before landing on EIR. The pattern was the same each time: the first few months were fine, then standards slipped, then the phone stopped getting answered quickly. They were not looking for a clever arrangement or a cheaper rate. They needed someone who would actually stay close.

What EIR did

From the first job, EIR's approach was straightforward: understand the site, understand the work, and send people who fit. That means face-to-face assessment before anyone goes to site — not just a phone screen and a CV. Tickets checked. Induction confirmed. The right classification for the role they are walking into.

When something went wrong — and over 22 years, things went wrong — EIR moved fast to fix it and communicated straight. No deflection. No "we'll look into it" and silence. The site manager heard back before the problem sat unresolved. That response pattern is what built the relationship.

Over time, EIR also expanded the type of support the business could access. Not just labourers and trades — admin support when project load required it, covering roles that smaller builders often struggle to fill through traditional labour hire. Across civil, construction, and admin, EIR became the single call the business made when they needed extra hands.

The result

Two decades of consistent supply. Workers who show up on time, with the right tickets, ready for the job they were called in to do. A replacement plan the business has had to call on, and that has worked every time. An admin support arrangement that keeps the office running when the workload spikes alongside the site.

The contact who originally signed the business up with EIR in 2003 has since moved into a different role. The business is in its second generation of management. And they are still with EIR. That is the kind of result that does not happen by accident.

“They still pick up the phone. I've worked with plenty of providers who were great for the first year. EIR has been great for twenty-two. When I need someone on site tomorrow, I know who I'm calling.”

What this means in practice

Long-term labour hire relationships are not sentimental. They persist because they are genuinely more efficient than the alternative. A provider who knows your sites, your site managers, and the standard you hold workers to does not need to be re-briefed every job. They already know. That saves time, reduces surprises, and keeps your projects moving.

EIR has been doing this since 2003. Proudly SA-owned and operated, working across civil, construction, manufacturing and warehousing — and supplying labourers, operators, tradies, and admin support to SA businesses who want a provider that stays close and communicates straight.
