The Client
A national restoration company that handles insurance claims created by natural disasters — floods, storms, fire damage. When disaster hits, they need workers on the ground fast. Not next week. Not in a few days. Tomorrow.
They operate across NSW and beyond, running multiple restoration sites at once. The work is hands-on and physical: strip-out, remediation, content disposal, inventory, and heavy lifting in flood-damaged homes and commercial properties.
The Problem
A major storm event had flooded properties across regional NSW. The client's phone was ringing off the hook with insurance claims, and they needed to mobilise fast.
The call came through late in the afternoon: 12 restoration labourers needed across four sites by 6 AM the next morning. Sites spread across the region — not one neat location, but multiple flood-affected suburbs that all needed crews at the same time.
Their previous labour hire provider had let them down before. Workers wouldn't show, or they'd turn up without the right gear, or they'd never done physical restoration work and couldn't handle the conditions. On a flood site, that's not just inconvenient — it's dangerous and it puts the whole remediation timeline at risk.
They needed workers who could actually do the work, who'd show up on time, and who could handle the reality of what a flood-damaged property looks like.
What EIR Did
We got the call at 4 PM. By 5:30 PM, we had 12 workers confirmed and briefed.
Face-to-face screening paid off.
Every worker we sent had already been through our in-person screening process. We knew their capabilities, their reliability track record, and their attitude. We weren't guessing — we were pulling from a pool of workers we'd already vetted.
Skill checks before the shift.
Restoration work isn't standard labouring. Workers need to handle hazardous materials, work in damaged structures, and do heavy lifting in difficult conditions. We confirmed every worker had the right tickets, the right experience, and understood what they were walking into.
Hands-on shift management.
Our team contacted every worker personally the evening before. Not a text blast — actual phone calls confirming the site address, start time, PPE requirements, and what the day would look like. Workers who know what to expect don't ghost.
Replacement guarantee.
We told the client: if anyone doesn't show, we'll have a replacement there within the hour. That's not a promise we make lightly — it means having workers on standby who are ready to go.
The Result
All 12 workers showed up. On time. Ready to work.
The client went from “we're in trouble” at 4 PM to having a full crew across four flood-damaged sites by 6 AM the next morning. Strip-out work started on schedule. The insurance timeline stayed on track.
Since that first mobilisation, we've filled over 1,000 shifts for this client across dozens of sites in NSW. We've deployed 90+ workers into restoration projects ranging from single-property jobs to large-scale disaster responses needing 30+ workers in a single day.
They don't call anyone else anymore.
Why It Worked
This isn't a story about getting lucky with availability. It's a story about having systems that work when it counts.
- Workers vetted face-to-face before they're ever needed
- Skills confirmed before the shift, not on the day
- Active shift management that keeps workers accountable
- A replacement guarantee that means the client is never left short
