Frequently asked questions

What is an EBA charge rate and how is it different from the award rate?

An Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) is a site-specific or company-specific agreement that usually pays workers above the Modern Award rate. EBA rates at EIR reflect the higher base wage plus the same on-costs (super, workers' comp, payroll tax, margin). Award rates are typically $55–$70/hr; EBA rates in Adelaide start at $83.70/hr for a CW1 labourer.

How much does an EBA construction labourer cost in Adelaide?

An EBA CW1 labourer through EIR in Adelaide costs $83.70/hr ex-GST at standard time, $101.16/hr at 1.5× overtime, and $130.05/hr at double time.

What does an EBA carpenter cost through labour hire in SA?

An EBA carpenter through EIR in Adelaide costs $93.98/hr ex-GST at standard time, $113.59/hr at 1.5× OT, and $146.04/hr at double time.

Do I need EBA workers for my construction site?

EBA coverage depends on your site's industrial agreement. If your project is covered by a current EBA, workers must be engaged on EBA terms. If not, Award (BOCGO 2020) rates apply. Contact EIR if you are unsure which applies to your site.
